RIFA / PRACTICAL GUIDES
Plant rental or buying?
Start with how your space will be used.
There is no single answer for every workplace. Rental and ownership organise the cost and responsibility of plants differently. Before choosing, consider how long you need the display, how often the layout may change and who will look after it.
Discuss your requirements ↗Start with the time horizon
For a temporary venue, exhibition or changing workplace, a rental enquiry lets you discuss the display over a defined period. For a long-term space, compare the full expected cost of rental with ownership rather than comparing only the initial payment.
Make care responsibilities explicit
Buying plants does not remove the need for care. Rental does not automatically mean that every care task is included. Ask who waters the plants, who checks their condition, how servicing access works and what happens if a plant needs replacing.
Compare the whole scope
A useful comparison includes containers, delivery, placement, care, replacement terms and eventual removal. Ask for inclusions and exclusions in writing. A lower headline price may describe a different scope rather than better value.
Think about changes to the workplace
If you expect to move, renovate or change a reception display, ask how an arrangement can be adjusted. Confirm minimum terms, notice periods and any charges rather than assuming changes are included.
Prepare a useful brief
Send the space location, photographs, approximate display area and preferred duration. Explain your visual goals and who can provide access. These details help a supplier respond with an appropriate proposal.
